Beginners – getting started with us

If you want to learn something new then you’ve got to start somewhere, right?! Complete beginners are very welcome to join our classes, read below to find out how to get started with us.

If you still have questions after reading the information on this page then you can contact us on office@CirqueScape.com with any queries.

Getting started in…

Our main aim for beginners is to get you comfortable with safely getting on and off the hoop, and moving around the hoop in basic positions. This involves building some strength and learning some of our basic and foundation positions.

The studio rigging points are adjustable, so if needed we can bring your hoop down to a height where you can sit on it like a swing while you get to grips with manoeuvring yourself around a big metal bar! Over time, you’ll build the strength and confidence to move the hoop higher.

Our beginner classes are structured to help you build the strength and technique needed in a fun way. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and you might just surprise yourself with what you can do!

You can read more about it on the aerial hoop page of our website!

The focus for beginners in aerial silks is to get you comfortable with various locks, wraps, climbs and shapes that form the foundations of everything else we do on the silks. Our beginner-focused sessions will cover these basics and foundations, and there’s a lot of fun we can have learning all of these moves.

You don’t need to be able to climb a rope to get started in silks. Our beginner programme will get you started with climbing, but there are also many other skills you can learn along the way before mastering a climb. Working on those other skills will help to build your strength and technique for climbing too.

Classes are relaxed and friendly, and you might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve in a relatively short space of time!

Fear of falling is one of the key things that holds beginners back in learning handstands and balances. Our instructors will take you through various techniques for safe “bailing” out of the balances you’re trying – once you know how to fall you’ll be more confident trying to balance.

We have a fully matted floor area and plenty of crash mats to help you get comfortable with safe techniques for unplanned exits out of balances! We can then start building some really fun shapes and tricks into your moves.

You can read more about it on the handstands page of our website!

Juggling and hula hooping fall under the category of object manipulation, along with poi, diabolo, devil sticks and various other objects that you can manipulate in the air.

The key to mastering these tricks is breaking them down into manageable parts that you can then put together, and our instructors are here to help you with that. Once you master the basic principles, you’ll find that you can explore and discover more independently – it’s a lot of fun working out new ways to use your apparatus!

You can read more about it on the juggling, hula hoop, and circus skills pages of our website!
